President Obama to Appoint New Cyber Czar
Last Friday (29th of May), President Barack Obama unveiled the creation of "Cybersecurity Czar" a new position that will be responsible of protecting the government and critical infrastructure from a growing league of hackers and cyber threats. This is the first step of their
President Obama sees that cyber attacks is one of the most serious economic and national security challenges the nation is facing today.
This new cybersecurity coordinator who is yet to be selected by Obama, will work closely with US' Chief technology officer, Aneesh Chopra and its Chief Information Officer, Vivek Kundra and will have regular acess to the president. Under the direction of the new cyber czar, The White House cybersecurity office will orchestrate and integrate all cybersecurity policies for the government and will ensure that the privacy and civil liberties of Americans won't be violated.
President Obama said that protecting the digital infrastructure will be a national security policy priority. "We will deter, prevent, detect and defend against attacks and recover quickly from any disruptions or damage", he added.
