How to manage the risk of your high-risk users
Imagine if you have a diverse user groups in your company that has remote access to critical systems and devices. Or vendors and contractors that needs to access your critical infrastructure in order to provide remote administration and support for their internal applications and equipment. What about employees that needs to access central records database offsite?
Even if such users have no intention of doing harm, do you have a way to monitor and report what they are doing in order to be compliant with PCI, HIPAA and SOX?
Anyone with broad access to the IT infrastructure and sensitive data with high degree of technical knowledge are called "high-risk" users which is very typical on every organization. The Xceedium Gatekeeper is a hardened appliance that enables companies to remotely manage the activities of high-risk users from inside or outside the organization without leaving a footprint. This allows them to perform their job functions without having the ability to "stray" and do more that they should.
GateKeeper tracks and logs everything a high-risk user does; all keystrokes and screens are recorded and reported for an easy audit trail. When a user logs into GateKeeper, his credentials are passed to the preferred authentication system(s) such as LDAP, SecureID, Radius, Active Directory and PKI/CAC to confirm his identity.
Xceedium can capture the raw RDP protocol instead of video streams for easy search of activities, incidents and controls. With policy enforcement capabilities, GateKeeper can terminate an action if a user tries to do something he doesn’t have privileges for. It will then logged it s a violation and trigger an alert.
Xceedium GateKeeper is a low-overhead and cost-effective all-in-one security solution created to fulfill the need for operational efficiency without compromising compliance and security requirements. Zscaler Delivers Immediate “Safe Search” Protection for Bing
Zscaler Inc., the market leader in cloud-delivered multi-tenant Security as a Service (SaaS), today announced the immediate availability of Safe Search for Microsoft Corp.’s newly-released Decision Engine, Bing. With a Safe Search solution like Zscaler’s, companies can further enforce appropriate access to Web content including explicit images and videos. Without properly controlling access to search content, organizations invite risk and liability. And whereas with traditional software or hardware appliances similar deployment would have taken months, Zscaler was able to add this protection to its service within days of the availability of Bing.
Safe Search is an important feature for search engines on many counts. The Bing Smart Motion Preview was designed to enable consumers to preview video content before clicking on the video itself, helping them to more easily navigate vast amounts of video content on the Web to find something that best meets their needs. Corporations raised concerns with this feature, as it enabled people to access explicit content without leaving the Bing domain. Microsoft moved quickly to address this, however Zscaler Safe Search provides businesses with even more flexibility to enable people to use the Bing video preview while enforcing appropriate access policies.
Delivery of Safe Search for Bing also illustrates the benefits of SaaS security over traditional appliances. Adding Safe Search for Bing required no software or proxy changes by customers; it was entirely transparent to end-users.
API Group Selects Zscaler Cloud Security Service
European manufacturing company benefits from powerful Web 2.0 security controls and saves MPLS bandwidth
SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 25 /PRNewswire/ — Zscaler, Inc., the market leader in cloud-delivered multi-tenant Security as a Service (SaaS), today announced that API Group — a manufacturer of specialized packaging materials with businesses located in the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, USA and Asia-Pacific — has selected it for powerful Web 2.0 security protection. Zscaler will enforce Internet business policies, manage employee Web usage, and protect API Group globally against online threats and risk.
Before choosing Zscaler’s cloud-based approach, API Group’s IT department was backhauling Internet traffic from all international offices to two central gateways in the UK and US, where URL and anti-virus filtering was handled using a traditional on-premise Web proxy-based solution. The company had recently purchased a new Multi Packet Label Switching (MPLS) network and the backhauling of Internet traffic was wasting valuable bandwidth.
“With the rise of MPLS networks, Zscaler is well-positioned to complement the new architecture these deployments create,” said Jay Chaudhry, CEO of Zscaler. “We are pleased to add API Group to our growing customer base, and offer the industry such a rich portfolio of integrated security capabilities at an attractive price and low total cost of ownership (TCO).”
