Event data is the fastest growing data and often the largest volume in organizations. Today, economic and compliance requirements have led organizations to create data warehouses of hundreds of terabytes and some organizations have even broken the once unthinkable petabyte limit for a single data warehouse. Companies lack the necessary framework to connect the knowledge from this huge volume of data with the rest of their operations.
While traditional data warehouse solutions based on relational databases are appropriate solutions for many business requirements, they are ill equipped to support the unique data characteristics of event data. The Event Data Warehouse is a unique, cost effective and proven solution that complements an organization's data warehouse strategy for a number of use-cases. It is an integrated solution containing data collection (ETL), storage and business intelligence analytics components, and is purpose-built to provide actionable results from massive amonts of log and event data. An Event Data Warehouse lets organizations:

Sex Still Sells: Malware On The Internet
A new video is reportedly making the rounds on the Internet – supposedly a keyhole camera was used to tape an unsuspecting ESPN Reporter Erin Andrews undressing in a hotel room. While lawyers for Erin Andrews work to have sites posting the video immediately remove it, the bad guys are yet again taking advantage of a timely “event” by quickly putting up fake websites to dupe unsuspecting web surfers into downloading malware.
And this time around they are targeting both PC and Mac users. Here’s how it works. When an unsuspecting web surfer conducts a Google search for the video and then visits a random returned link to view the video, they are first directed to a fake CNN site (Figure 1) indicating that the content is “suggestive” and includes a link to view the video. When the web surfer clicks on that link, they receive a pop-up (Figure 2) indicating that they must first download a video viewer. On a Mac, you are downloading malware in the form of a .dmg file OSX/Jahlav-C (Figure 3) and on a PC you are downloading a malicious .exe Mal/EncPk-IF. >> Read More

Recent High-Profile Insider Breach at Goldman Sachs Highlights the Continued Struggle with Monitoring and Controlling Privileged Accounts
NEWTON, Mass - July 20, 2009 - One year after former San Francisco IT administrator Terry Childs was charged with using a privileged account to lock down the city's network, organizations are still struggling to monitor and control privileged accounts. Recent high-profile, insider-related incidents, including the Goldman Sachs employee who allegedly stole proprietary trading software, and the Quantum Technology Partners employee who was sentenced to jail for using an administrative password to breach the company's network and shut down its servers, serve as harsh reminders of the security vulnerabilities organizations continue to face despite elevated awareness.
