Dear Valued Customers,
December Issue

It’s the most wonderful time of the year again and we actually want to spare you with the never ending wraths in IT security but then we feel like deceiving you if we don’t so here we are.

2008 has been a one big roller coaster ride for all of us and conventionally, as the year draws to a close, this is the perfect time to revisit all the threats that spread havoc in the cyber space and prepare for ourselves to battle them again in the coming year.

Here’s some overview of the top threats that grunted the whole nation in 2008:

1. Web 2.0 Attacks – Cybercriminals have find a way to implant malicious codes in legitimate websites through SQL injection. Even the big companies were infected by this like Sony Playstation and many social networking sites and blogs also didn’t escape this rabble-rouser.

2. Email Threats – is always been a hot and popular topic in information technology because of the dangers it brings to the endpoint such as viruses, phishing, spam, data loss and more. A link to what was said to be a pornographic video of US presidential candidate Barack Obama was widely spammed in email but the real intention is to install a malware into the victim’s computer.

3. Data Leakage – made headlines because of laxness in protecting confidential data. Lists of private customer data, such as account numbers, login information, and social security numbers are especially vulnerable and are often targets of theft. Even exiting employees are one of the threats in data loss.

These are just the top three and we don't want to spoil your holiday by telling you that there are more to watch out for such as VoIP, IM and Storm attacks and let us add one more, mobile phones and wi-fi devices security flaws. You probably can't wait for 2009 to come.

On behalf of Quantiq International and our technology partners, we want to greet you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. And we want to say 'Thank you' for choosing Quantiq as your "Preferred Regional Security Architect."
