At strike of the first second of 2009, the world celebrated and welcome the New Year with sparkle and greetings; be it sms, email, networking portal like Facebook or LinkedIn, chats etc. We want the joyful moments to continue….

It set me to recall how Quantiq International started in 2001 April - a walk down memory lane lights up past glorious victory and the tumultous years of challenges. A memoirs of our core values on earning "Trust"; delivering "Reliability"; sharing "Experience"; taking "Ownership" with committed "Responsibility" to attain long haul "Partnership" by executing "Discipline" helps myself and my team continue to strives to stay valid in this competitive field.

We want to thank everyone for their warm support and strong faith plus many encouragement and mentorship that gives us excellent opportunity to be here to serve the industry. Today, Quantiq International have a strong fleet of passionate people who commit to achieve the extra mile so to expand the horizon with our clients. Nuix Finalist for 2009 Innovation Shootout

We’re proud to announce that Nuix has been named as one of the finalist in the 2009 Innovation Shootout. This event is sponsored by the six State Governments of Australia, each of which chooses a local company that has developed a cutting edge technological advancement as its state finalist.

On 13th of January, finalists will give presentations about their companies during the Innovation Fast Pitch taking place at the Business Technology Center, run by the Community Development Commission of the County of Los Angeles. They will then travel to the Bay Area on 15th January to participate in the Innovation Shootout at the Quadras Conference Center in Menlo Park. The winner will be selected by a panel of judges including technology experts, members of the media, and venture capitalists.

We are so happy to represent Nuix in Singapore and thrilled on who’s going to win.

Fake Web Certificate

A few days before the end of 2008, a team of researchers found a weakness in the MD5 cryptographic hash function which will allow an attacker to create a rogue Certification Authority (CA) certificate and potentially impersonate any website, including those secure by the HTTPS protocol. Because of this, internet browsers will display any website as SS-secured so users will have no clue that they browsing a PayPal or any bank sites with fake CA certificate.

This is more difficult to know if certain website is infected with malicious codes especially when SQL injection and cross-site grows in 2009. 7,000 vulnerabilities were reported in 2008 and over 70 percent are related to web applications and over 65 percent easily exploitable.

The continuing economic downturn could lead to more instances of cybercrime, with a corresponding tightening of security budgets. We need to adopt solutions like new technologies in web-threat security. High-tech criminals see more opportunity in this downturn especially when the percentage of unemployment spike this year.
